Our Mission

Elucidate (verb): To make clear; Explain

At Elucidate Games, we aim to elucidate complex game mechanics. One of our primary focuses is creating Quick Start Guides (QSGs) for complicated games. These generally gear towards players who prefer a "learn through playing" approach to new games. While this will be the pinnacle of our content, you can expect to also find some strategic deep dives, reviews and details on games we are designing.

Game Design

Elucidate Games (EG) will focus on designing games that take a "Logic Over Luck" approach. Random elements make games what they are, but chance needs to be used carefully in a strategy game.

Through our design and testing processes we will strive to eliminate unnecessary complexities, and constantly work towards gameplay that is both simple and strategic.

EG will be continually designing and self publishing games as they are finalized.

Quick Start Guides

Our Quick Start Guides are designed to get gamers to the table and experiencing the game as quick as possible. In each quick start guide we focus primarily on 3 things. 1. The setup, 2. The core loop, or central mechanic, and 3. Some optimal first moves to get you started.

Head on over to our Youtube page and see if there are any games you've been wanting to learn, or perhaps you'll find a good video for a game that you hate teaching (cough)7 Wonders(cough).

We'd love your feedback on which videos you'd like us to prioritize, so if you have a game for which you'd like a QSG made, please let us know.

Our hope is that the Elucidate Games community will be a safe space for board game enthusiasts and designers to come together and have fun. We'd love to hear from you, especially about how we can improve our content to best fulfil your needs.
